I live in Kirsten Gillibrand’s former Congressional district…
I think there will be low turnout for the NY-20 race… no surprise … there is obviously a lot of money being poured into the district to promote two unknown candidates… which is not such a big deal…
The big deal is that the national committees are saying nothing about governing this country or addressing the issues around the worst financial and economic crisis since the Great Depression… the messages are composed of mean-spirited attacks on the candidates… not very uplifting…
This area was the home of FDR and many other founders and builders of this nation… I cringe when I think what they see from their graves…
Our national government is trying hard to keep this nation from entering another Great Depression… the efforts of those serving in Washington may or may not avert an economic freeze… but you are asking taxpayers to assume substantial future debt to fund these efforts… and to recapitalize and stabilize the banking system… these are issues of historical signifigance…
I really want to encourage those in the “political class” to elevate the discourse… if the NY-20 is representative of what is coming this will add to the malaise of our country… raise the tone… we all have to start working together a little more… there are big stakes in this crisis…
