Right on Jon Stewart…. finally… someone asking Wall Street and the financial media to have higher standards… and personalizing what this whole debacle is about… because the true story is Wall Street preying on the “dumb money” the individual investors, 401Ks and pension funds… (the complex answers relate to leverage, off balance sheet SIVs, raters misrating…etc…)
The simple story is the existence of many dark corners of the financial markets and Wall Street taking every advantage… some of this maybe criminal and much of it was passively enabling…now the whole edifice has fallen down… Jon Stewart has it right… his intelligence blended with anger in the service of common decency is the best thing I’ve seen a media figure do in a really long time… thanks Jon… excellent…
